FIELD: oil-and-gas producing industry, in particular, devices for round trip operations with tubing in repair of wells. SUBSTANCE: elevator has body, gripping unit which consists of jaws and rod interconnected by hinge, handle fixed to body. Handle post accommodates locking member engageable with holes made on rod and body boss. Installed between lever and locking member is tie-rod spring-loaded relative to handle and connected with them by means of hinges. Hinge axle which connects lever with tie-rod is movably located in recess. Tie-rod and handle have stops engageable with each other. With elevator in open position, tie-rod protrudes beyond the handle contour. In this case, lever center of gravity is located between axle of its rotation and hinge which connects it with tie-rod. In opening of elevator, operator pushes lever and presses it to handle. In so doing, locking member protrudes from rock hole and releases the gripping unit and tie rod connecting lever with locking member by means of hinges comes out beyond the contour of handle.
