FIELD: oil and gas production, underground repair of wells. SUBSTANCE: elevator has frame, guides and gripping unit. The latter includes jaws interconnected by rod and joint. Jaws interact with guides and frame in process of gripping and release of tube. Surfaces of jaws interacting with frame are flat and capable of engagement each other up to moment of deviation of axis of gripper away from axis of rod. Edges of jaws moving into mesh with guides are positioned of above-mentioned flat surfaces. EFFECT: prolonged service life of safe operation of elevator under condition of grinding parts. 2 dwg
