FIELD: engine engineering. SUBSTANCE: engine operates as an engine which has straight flow gas exchange system and whose pistons move toward each other. In combustion and expansion gases causes pistons 3 to move forward. The pistons sets ball 4 in motion through an intermediate mechanism. The balls are received in semi-spherical hollows on the surface of the piston. The balls, being in contact with the grooves provided in cylinder 1, roll over the curved endless shapes of the grooves thus converting forward motion into rotation, which is transmitted from the balls to pistons. The pistons have openings 5 through which output spline shaft 6 passes. Rotation is transmitted to power take-off gears 14 by the use of spline bushings 8 connected with the pistons and spline shaft connected with the spline bushings on which power take-off gears are mounted.
