CULTURED LAWN GROWING SOIL MIXTURE AND METHOD FOR CULTURED LAWN FORMATION Russian patent published in 1997 - IPC

Abstract RU 2099929 C1

FIELD: agriculture, maybe used to form sports, ornamental and soil-protective grounds. SUBSTANCE: soil mixture contains sandy loam or loamy or black soil, peat, sand and stony material, preferably marble crumb, with fraction size of 3-10 mm. Components are used in the following ratio, wt.-%: sandy loam or loamy or black soil, 60-80; peat, 25-20; stony material, 2.5-10; sand, the balance. Method involves preparing components of soil mixture; mixing components; laying soil mixture in uniform layer; planing and compacting; watering and holding; sowing sod grass seeds into lawn growing soil mixture. Sand loam or loamy or black soil as well as peat and sand are preliminarily sieved through sieves with cells of 12 mm size. Soil mixture is laid onto drainage system or bed ground in dry weather, with soil mixture layer thickness being within the range of 3-50 cm depending on purpose of cultured lawn from middle portion to edges, with ground and drainage system slope being kept. Compaction is conducted by wooden roll. Laid mixture is held under fallow for 3-4 weeks to provide soil setting with everyday irrigation in case of rain lack. When soil density PH is < 6, it is subjected to liming; at soil density PH > 7, peat, ammonium sulfate or ammonium nitrate is introduced into soil. When soil salinity exceeds 0.1-0.2% of soil weight, gypsum is applied at the rate of 7-8 t/ha of soil. Soil mixture is mixed to produce homogeneous mass on ground with solid covering, such as asphaltic covering. Irrigation is carried out so as to exclude washing out of lawn growing soil mixture. Upon laying of mixture, it is protected from early unplanned mechanical actions. EFFECT: increased efficiency and improved quality of lawn. 12 cl
