FIELD: metallurgy, coal and mining industry. SUBSTANCE: loose material is compressed with binding agents in closed and half-closed spaces confined by working surfaces of tool. According to invention, binding agent is applied to the tool surface, from which it is transferred onto surface of briquet when compressed. As tool, cellular rolls are used. Binder is applied to their surfaces by flooding technique or by way of spraying binder solution onto upper parts of roll surface, immersing lower part of roll surface into binder solution being also possible. Temperature of binder being in contact with lower roll surface is chosen below temperature of solution being on upper roll surface. Binder solution on upper roll surface is heated. EFFECT: reduced binder consumption due to applying it only to surface part of briquet rather than to its bulk on the whole. 5 cl, 5 dwg
