FIELD: organic chemistry. SUBSTANCE: method involves interaction of chitosan with carboxyl-containing reagent, both reagents are used in solid state. The process takes place at 25-100 C under action of shear stress and pressure. Dicarboxylic acid (which is chosen of succinic acid and malonic acid) or anhydride of dicarboxylic acid (which is chosen of succinic anhydride, maleic anhydride and phthalic anhydride) is used as mentioned above carboxyl-containing compound, its quantity being 0.25-1.5 moles per 1 mole of amino group of chitosan.
