FIELD: organic chemistry. SUBSTANCE: first invention resides in marking mineral oil with amine by mixing amine or solution thereof with mineral oil, aniline of general formula (1) $$$, wherein are as defined in Claim 1, being used as amine. Second invention is directed to method for detecting amine-based marker in mineral oil by extracting amine from marked mineral oil using aqueous medium. Aqueous extract thus-produced is reacted with diazotized amine. As diazotized amine, method employs diazonium salt which is amine-derivative of following series of compounds: aminoanthraquinones, aminonaphthalenes, anilines, aminothiophenes, aminothiazoles or aminobenzisothiazoles. Latter compounds are reacted with aqueous extract containing aniline of above-indicated general formula (1). EFFECT: effective method for marking mineral oils. 7 cl, 1 tbl
