FIELD: metallurgy. SUBSTANCE: method includes measuring cooling water intakes in delivery and drain pipelines of controlled tuyere, determining intake difference, analyzing it, and producing leakage alarm. Method is distinguished by determining difference of instantaneous magnitudes of intakes in delivery and drain pipelines of controlled tuyere and continuously analyzing frequency spectrum of this difference, and leakage alarm is produced on attaining magnitudes of intake difference spectrum constituents for controlled tuyere which are the same as those stored in technical means for malfunctioning tuyere.
