FIELD: automatic means testing liquid and gaseous media for content of mechanical impurities. SUBSTANCE: method consists in conversion of output signal of pickup whose amplitude of output signals is proportional to sizes of fouling particles and duration - to time of passage of particles through sensitive space of pickup to pulses of constant amplitude whose width corresponds to duration of pulses from particles and to pulses of constant amplitude whose width corresponds to duration of pauses following pulses from particles and in subsequent integration of these pulses. In this case voltages of specified number of converted pulses from particles and voltages of same number of pulses whose width corresponds to pauses following these pulses from particles are integrated. Ratio between values of integral values is used to estimate concentration of fouling particles. EFFECT: decreased error of measurement of concentration of particles with change of flow rate of tested medium, enhanced measurement accuracy. 3 dwg
