FIELD: measurement technology. SUBSTANCE: method determining axial moment of inertia of body and device for its realization may be used to determine axial moments of inertia, tensors of inertia and centers of masses of bodies on platform rotating about unspecified axis. Platform with shaft put into bearing with body attached to it are imparted vibrations about axis within permissible angular limits that include speed-up and slow-down. Momentary angular speeds of rotation are ensured in definite positions of angular measurement zone by which moment of inertia is found analytically. Platform is given one dynamically asymmetrical acceleration/deceleration rotation with sudden transfer from acceleration to deceleration. Device for realization of method has baseplate, circular platform with shaft, ring container mounted for its securing in six angular positions with reference to axis of shaft, disbalance mechanism composed of two unbalanced masses resting against shaft with capability of location of one of them on shaft. Platform includes one ring mounted for turn about axis located outside it on shaft of platform. EFFECT: increased precision and productivity of method and device. 2 cl, 3 dwg
