FIELD: instruments for antenna equipment. SUBSTANCE: method involves generation of through resonator which aperture is identical to aperture of tested antenna, matching antenna with resonator, excitation of tested antenna and processing of signal which is received in through resonator. Corresponding device has through resonator which has two pairs of orthogonal excitation units which are connected to corresponding inputs of dividers and phase shifters which are connected to amplitude meters through detector sections. This circuit provides possibility to assess polarization type, major to minor axis ratio, presence or absence of an orthogonal mode.
