FIELD: mechanical engineering. SUBSTANCE: this is intended for cutting toothed articles. Hobbing cutter has body which is resiliently deformable in radial direction, sectional wedge-shaped toothed racks which are made up of holder with taper shoulders, cutting strip with double-side cutting member, and members for fastening strips in holders, also end-face caps and fastening members on holder shoulders. Increased service life of hopping cutter, possibility of its tight seating on mandrel without moving caps towards each other over holder shoulders and replacement of any strip without disassembly of hopping cutter are achieved due to body configuration in the form of pair resiliently deformable components shaped as rings and seated apart along cutter axis, also due to mounting of rings under shoulders, and installing strips between rings in front open radial through-slots of holders so that cutting parts of strips turned towards center of cutter create together seating hole of cutter, and at fixing cutter on machine mandrel they are in contact with cutter.
