FIELD: leather industry. SUBSTANCE: invention aims at increasing elasticity of skins, decreasing their rigidity and leveling ductility over their topographic regions. Method includes placing rawstock on supporting surface and transferring it into working zone. Rawstock is there treated by shock action on its surface using jet of working agent at an angle to supporting surface. Material is then cleaned to remove working agent. Elasticity of rawstock increases if supporting surface is made of elastic material. Shock action is effected by magnetically permeable spherical bodies with diameter constituting 0.5 to 1 maximum thickness of skin being treated and impact velocities constituting 0.2-0.4 sound speed in the skin, whereas impact angle is equal to 90 deg. - φ where φ is working agent material's angle of friction over the surface of skins linked with coefficient of the same material's friction over the surface of material being treated by relationship tgφ = f. Skin treatment installation comprises working chamber with means to transfer material under treatment into working zone with electric motor, ejector nozzle and means for displacing this perpendicularly to travel of material under treatment, working agent recycle system, and electric motor rotation frequency control system. Nozzle is provided with electromagnetic system to accelerate bodies of working agent in the form of a set of inductors rigidly and coaxially fastened on nozzle outlet.
