FIELD: controlling catalytic reactor connected to vehicle internal-combustion engine rapidly heated at least on one short section. SUBSTANCE: electric heater is connected with delay after internal combustion engine is started in case rate of temperature variation on heated section of catalytic reactor caused by action of heat of engine exhaust gases is approximately equal to or lower than rate of temperature variation caused by electric heating. That is why, electric heater is turned on in about 3-10 s only and it is better to start engine first at higher speed, no load, and lean mixture, and then to slow it down still at no load and enticed mixture. For more accurate determination of start of heating, ambient temperature, engine and catalyst temperatures may be considered. EFFECT: improved utilization of available electrical energy due to coordination of heating temperature and engine control intervals. 12 cl, 2 dwg
