FIELD: production of light-resistant azo pigments, dyes and polymer materials. SUBSTANCE: 4-nitrobenzamide is prepared of 4-nitrobenzoic acid by its condensation with ammonia, the process is carried out in the presence of catalytic system. Then isolation of desired product by commonly used procedures takes place. Said catalytic system comprises boric acid, or tetrabutoxytitanium, or dimethylphosphite being used as catalyst and polyethylene glycol having molecular weight 400-5000 being used as cocatalyst. Quantity of catalyst is 0.008-0.4 moles per 1 mole of 4-nitrobenzoic acid, quantity of cocatalyst being 0.00024-0.266 moles per 1 mole of 4-nitrobenzoic acid. Yield of desired 4-nitrobenzamide is up to 97 %. EFFECT: increased yield of desired product; significantly simplified technology of the method.
