FIELD: metallurgy. SUBSTANCE: method includes charging into furnace crucible of carbon steel with lowest content of impurities, for instance, armco iron, and heating and melting. After carbonization of melt with graphite, melt is subjected to refining and two-stage cooling which is carried out in furnace together with crucible. In this case, at the first stage slow cooling of melt is accomplished up to full crystallization of metal, and at the second stage, accelerated cooling is effected, for instance, with open furnace. EFFECT: higher efficiency. 2 cl, 2 dwg
