SUBSTANCE: dimensions of object 1 are measured with the aid of electron-optical device that incorporates radiation 8,8' and receiving 6, 6' elements arranged not less that in one measurement plane 7 perpendicular to longitudinal axis of object 1 and processing unit 20. Measurement plane 7 of measurement portal 10 is limited by two measurement beams 4, 4' as minimum placed at specified angle. Side surfaces of measurement beams 4, 4' facing measurement plane 7 carry at least one row of receiving elements 6, 6'. One radiating element 8, 8' switched on periodically for formation of fan light beam directed on to receiving elements 6, 6' arranged at preset distance A from measurement beam 4, 4' in measurement plane 7 corresponds to each row of receiving elements 6, 6'.
