SUBSTANCE: device has a light source for exciting luminescent radiation and a luminescence sensor for picking up luminescent radiation with spectral resolution from the valuable document with. The light source creates on the valuable document moving near the luminescence sensor in the direction of transportation an elongated illuminated section which stretches in the direction of transportation. In the disclosed device, the luminescence sensor has a diffraction grating, one detector unit for measuring zero-order luminescent radiation diffracted on the diffraction grating and another detector unit for measuring another order which is decomposed by the diffraction grating into spectra of the luminescent radiation.

EFFECT: high quality of verifying luminescent valuable documents.
