FIELD: cutting-tool strengthening technology. SUBSTANCE: this is intended for strengthening of sections of strip-like cutting tools, for example in manufacture of high-strength cutting edges of various-purpose tools possessing self-grinding property. In device, installed subsequently in parallel to moving direction of table 4 are thermostat 5 and cooling unit 6 which embrace treatable section of strip-like tool at both sides. Face of blank is heated by means of laser 1 with its optical axis passing through focusing unit 3 and directed to treatable section of blank of strip-like cutting tool. Device allows for creating hard and wear-resistant edges of strip-like cutting tool possessing self-grinding property in process of operation for cheaper and more simple application of tool. EFFECT: high efficiency. 1 dwg
