FIELD: mechanical treatment of hard-to-work electrically nonconducting materials. SUBSTANCE: method relates to working structural ceramics and can be applied in high-accuracy and dimensional treatment of ceramic articles in mechanical engineering, such as for making fine slots in localized nonconducting materials by placing a work article in liquid which is transparent for optical radiation, with subsequent subjecting this article to the action of concentrated power in the form of focused optical pulse radiation. Solid nontransparent particles can be introduced into working fluid and their dimensions should be commensurable with size of a spot. EFFECT: high efficiency. 2 cl, 1 dwg
