FIELD: construction engineering. SUBSTANCE: this can be used for covering large-span civil and industrial buildings and also in construction of multiple-storey garages. Suspended covering has shell made up of load-bearing part and form-creating layer. Load-bearing part is made of flexible sheet material or reinforcing net and is provided with members of cone-like configuration with their bases adapted for pivoted fastening to supporting components. Tops of cone-like members are facing towards internal area of shell. Members of cone-like configuration can be created by groups of rods or strips. Upon mounting, load-bearing part of shell and entire covering in whole acquire convex-concave configuration. Covering erection method implies connection of load-bearing part of shell and cone-shaped members with shuttering, pouring in form-creating layer, installing shell on supporting components and fastening to them. Cone-shaped members on load-bearing part of shell are oriented by their tops towards inner area of shell and with their bases outside. Installed above shuttering is jig and cone-shaped members are attached to it. Located between jig and load-bearing part are prestressing devices with for preloading of load-bearing part. Jig together with shell components attached to it is moved to fastening site, cone bases are installed in pivoted seats in supporting components, covering is filled with form-creating material, and after hardening of form-creating material, prestressing load is removed from load-bearing part of shell, and finally shuttering is taken out.
