FIELD: metallurgy, in particular, manufacture of long products from steel with the help of continuous casting. SUBSTANCE: liquid steel is poured into water-cooled mold of continuous casting unit where steel partially solidifies with formation of ring-shaped shell of continuous cast casting with round or polygonal shape with more than four corners and minimal perimeter of 200 mm. Continuously cast casting is reduced to its full solidification due to reduction action on casting of supporting means over area of its cross-section with preservation of length of its perimeter.
