FIELD: metallurgy, continuous casting of steel for manufacture of thin ingots, predominantly from steel with specified thickness after hardening. SUBSTANCE: process and gear include casting of metal with the use of submersible cup having FTA≥ 1/50FST and supply of foundry powder dependent on height, form and frequency of oscillatory motion of mould with keeping hslaq≥ hshell, where FST is area of cross-section of completely hardened ingot; FTA is area of cross-section at outlet of submersible cup; hshell is height of slag; hshell is height of hardened shell of ingot located above level of metal with top position of mould. Coordination of above-mentioned parameters of process and gear for continuous casting lead to good and favorable supply of slag and movement of bath at level of melt surface in mould which has direct effect on quality of surface and internal structure and on safety of casting. EFFECT: improved quality of surface and internal structure of ingots and on safety of process. 4 cl, 7 dwg
