FIELD: mechanical engineering; materials packing and binding. SUBSTANCE: proposed invention relates to binding of pressed bale tending to expand mainly along main axis. Brace is made either of steel wire or steel tie-band. Band is bent to form wary surface sections characterized by sinusoidal irregularities oriented in parallel with main axis. Brace can extend along irregularities absorbing stress forces. Knot is made on opposite ends of brace. Tensile strength of brace at places where it is bent to form wavy sections is less than tensile strength of nondeformed portion of brace, but is greater than breaking strength of knot. Device for making wire with wavy sections consists of upper and lower rolls secured for movement, respectively, on upper and lower fastening arrangements. Upper fastening arrangement is secured coaxially with lower fastening arrangement. EFFECT: possibility of using smaller gauge wire owing to decreasing stresses applied to brace knots at side of bale. 13 cl, 15 dwg
