FIELD: oil and gas production. SUBSTANCE: killing well in order to repair it includes pumping in polyacrylamide solution-based viscoelastic composition and killing fluid into hole clearance with wellhead pump-compressor pipes open. Viscoelastic composition is forced through onto bottom zone and into filters and killing fluid is pumped in into pump-compressor pipes. According to invention, viscoelastic composition is forced through with pump-compressor pipes closed and killing fluid is pumped in into hole clearance (with wellhead pump-compressor pipes open) after viscoelastic composition is completely forced through. Polyacrylamide solution contained in viscoelastic composition is prepared using killing fluid, the latter constituting a highly mineralized solution.
