FIELD: inorganic chemistry, particularly, production of sodium nitrite which may be used for production of lead phosphite used as highly effective stabilizing agent for polymers. SUBSTANCE: solution of sodium hydroxide being portionwise fed interacts with granular phosphorous-containing slime, the process is carried out in neutral medium by heating and at mixing. Waste of production of yellow phosphorous having 63-71 % phosphorous content is used as said slime. Interaction is carried out at 90-100 C by mixing, molar ratio of components P:NaOH:H2O being 1.0:1.65-2.00:15.00-18.00 respectively. Rate of mixing is 100-250 rpm. Then solution is affected by filtration, during the first filtration desired solution is separated of mineral portion of slime, during the second filtration process it is separated of sodium phosphates. EFFECT: improved purity; increased yield.
