FIELD: may be used in manufacture of cutting inserts and hard-alloy inserts with high wear resistance for machining of difficult-to-work steels and alloys. SUBSTANCE: composition contains tungsten carbide or hard phase based on carbides of titanium, tantalum and niobium and a bond of cobalt with additions of nickel and additionally contains rhenium in the following ratio of components, wt.-%: tungsten carbide or hard phase based on tungsten carbide with additions of tantalum carbide (6-7), niobium carbide (2-2.5), titanium carbide (4-4.5), 80-95; nickel, 1-3; rhenium, 1-6; cobalt, the balance; with rhenium-to-nickel content ratio within 0.4-5.0.
