ISOTOPE SEPARATION APPARATUS Russian patent published in 1998 - IPC

Abstract RU 2106186 C1

FIELD: isotope separation, applicable in creation of enriching cascade in the process of production of stable and radioactive isotopes of chemical elements, as well as in systems of final product cleaning of foreign impurities and in application of various coatings onto the substrate. SUBSTANCE: the apparatus has a magnetic system enveloping the vacuum chamber, which accommodates in alignment with the magnetic system an open-type gas-discharge ion source, having a cathode with a cylindrical emitting surface and at least one anode located at the cathode end surface perpendicularly to the magnetic system axis. In addition the ion source is furnished with two cylindrical electrodes positioned coaxially to the cathode and limiting the discharge space with a gap between them as a source port. The inside radius of the electrodes is determined proceeding from the conditions of the maximum efficiency of operation of the ion source of the substance to be separated. The apparatus also used receiving isotope collectors made in the form of a group of cylindrical electrodes. One of the receiving collectors intended for the heavy component envelops the ion source in the area of its port and has a height of not less than the port height, and an inside radius determined proceeding from the condition of the minimum energy of heavy ions on the surface of the collector, and its potential does not exceed the anode potential. The other receiving collectors intended for the light component envelop the ion source in the area outside the port and have an inside radius exceeding the radius of the electrode for the heavy component, and the potential is negative relative to the potential of the electrode for the heavy component. EFFECT: enhanced efficiency. 6 dwg
