FIELD: petroleum processing and petrochemistry. SUBSTANCE: invention aims at neutralizing corrosive and toxic hydrogen sulfide when producing, treating, storing, and processing sour crudes and gas condensates. Method consists in successively treating raw material with ammonia and alifatic or cyclic aldehyde. As aldehyde, preferably used are formaldehyde, furfural, or benzaldehyde in amounts 1.5-10 mol per 1 mol of hydrogen sulfide, and ammonia is taken in amount 0.5-6 mol. Method gives rise to considerably increasing hydrogen sulfide removal degree and thereby reducing degree of hydrogen sulfide corrosion of equipment. Reduced is also environmental pollution. EFFECT: increased purification degree and improved environmental condition. 3 cl
