FIELD: examination and analysis of materials. SUBSTANCE: atomization and excitation of substance under test are performed in device for spectral analysis in combination (glow and capillary) discharge. Device has evacuated discharge tube with hollow electrodes between which glow discharge is excited. Plasma forming gas is pumped through tube. Cylindrical small bar with axial hole of small diameter (capillary) made of powder of material under test is introduced in to glow discharge column. High-temperature zone in which atomization of tested substance is performed is created inside capillary due to considerable rise of current density. Atoms are excited in zone adjacent to outlet hole of capillary. During spectral analysis with the use of combination glow discharge reduction of detection limits is obtained due to considerable decrease in recombination radiation intensity and widening of lines. EFFECT: more effective analysis. 1 dwg
