FIELD: laser engineering. SUBSTANCE: device has magnetron, microwave cavity resonator, discharge tube filled with working gas, optical resonator, and passive microwave load. Firing device is, essentially, high-quality resonance-tuned microwave system tightly coupled with magnetron which provides for energy accumulation and discharge starting. Coaxial plasma line produced in the process conveys microwave energy to passive load. Part of transported energy is absorbed by plasma to maintain its existence and to ensure lasing process. Cavity resonator quality is recovered upon suppression of discharge, and energy is newly accumulated till next discharge which ensures desired operational stability. EFFECT: improved reliability of discharge indication dispensing with auxiliary means. 13 cl, 1 dwg
