FIELD: nondestructive testing. SUBSTANCE: penetrant is applied to surface prepared for checking, kept on surface for some time and removed by cleaner. Then developer is applied, formed indication traces characterizing the surface and through defects are recorded, layer of developer is removed by liquid cleaners, developer is applied again, and formed indication traces characterizing the through defects only are recorded. Results of first and second steps of checking are compared, and defects are divided into through and surface ones. EFFECT: higher results of checking.
