METHOD FOR CAPILLARY INSPECTION OF SURFACE DEFECTS OF GLASS-CERAMIC ARTICLES Russian patent published in 2024 - IPC G01N21/91

Abstract RU 2820654 C1

FIELD: measurement technology; technological processes.

SUBSTANCE: invention relates to the field of non-destructive testing of glass-ceramic articles intended for the aircraft structural elements manufacturing, and can be used to determine discontinuities on the surface of the wall of glass-ceramic articles. Method for capillary inspection of surface defects of glass-ceramic products includes cleaning, applying a water-based color indicator penetrant, holding, removal of excess penetrant from the surface of the product by means of washing with water, detection of defects, drying to restore the initial characteristics of the product. Controlled surface of the article is cleaned with a cloth cotton napkin moistened with ethyl alcohol. Then article is dried in air until complete evaporation of alcohol, the article surface is blown with a blow gun with dry compressed air until complete removal of dust and pile from the cotton napkin. Penetrant is applied, which is held for 20–35 minutes, then, after washing off the excess penetrant with water, the surface of the inspected article is dried in air until complete drying. Further, due to the contrast of the light surface of the article and the color indicator penetrant, remaining inside surface defects and forming an indicator pattern of the controlled surface, presence of defects and their sizes is determined. Article is then dried in a drying cabinet at temperature of 250–300 °C for 1.5–2 hours.

EFFECT: high quality of inspecting glass-ceramic articles and high efficiency of analysis.
