FIELD: non-destructive testing.
SUBSTANCE: invention can be used for capillary nondestructive testing of surface and through defects in articles made from nitride ceramics after its reaction sintering. Essence of the invention consists in the fact that after cleaning the product is impregnated with water, in which the product is immersed and held until complete impregnation, it is removed from the surface of the product, water-based colored indicator penetrant is applied on the surface of the product, its excess is removed from the surface of the product by washing with water, defects are detected, after which the product is dried to restore the initial characteristics, wherein after the reaction sintering, the product is cleaned, impregnated with distilled water, then, after its removal, a colored indicator penetrant is applied on the surface of the product and held for 1–5 minutes, excess penetrant is removed from the surface of the product and a developer is applied, it is held for 1–5 minutes, then the presence of surface and/or through defects is determined from the nature of the indicator pattern, after which the article is dried at temperature of 350–400 °C for 2–3 hours.
EFFECT: reliable non-destructive testing of surface and through defects in articles made from nitride ceramics after reaction sintering.
