FIELD: examination and analysis of substances. SUBSTANCE: method consists in cyclic polarization of platinum indicating electrode in three-electrode electrochemical cell in water solution of electrolyte from cathode current value at the moment hydrogen emission is started to anode current value at the moment oxygen emission is started. In this case use is made of mobile indicating electrode in base solution of electrolyte. Then indicating electrode is brought into water heat carrier for octadecylamine adsorption on its surface. Parameter of oxygen adsorption in cell, in electrolyte base solution is determined again, and concentration of octadecylamine is determined by difference in measured values of oxygen adsorption parameter before and after contact of electrode with water heat carrier containing octadecylamine. Device for determination of octadecylamine concentration in water heat carrier has electronic polarizer and three-electrode electrochemical cell with indicating electrode. Indicating electrode is made mobile, and electronic polarizer has electricity meter of quantity equal to area under peak of oxygen recovery peak on volt-ampere characteristic of indicating electrode.
