FIELD: automation and computer engineering. SUBSTANCE: method involves detection of characteristics of user body parts movement, converting measured results into required representation form and processing of sequences of converted data in order to achieve data about position and orientation of user in space. For this method involves mounting near main joints of user body instruments which measure at least one angle between segments which are adjacent to corresponding joint of user body, mounting on at least one segment of user motor apparatus a tool which measure reference directions, measurement of orientation of at least one segment which carries reference direction detector, detection of angles between segments which are adjacent to said main joints of body, detection of orientation and position of user body as whole in three- dimensional space using measured angles and orientation of said at least one segment which carries reference direction detector.
