FIELD: digital processing of image signals, transmission of videodata over narrow-band communication channels and realization of fast examination of large archived data bases. SUBSTANCE: preservation of topology of image compression is achieved by maintenance of minimal Euclidean distance of each vector relative to standard one. Decompression is carried out in relation with chosen reference points of image. EFFECT: improved authenticity of method.
