FIELD: mechanical and electrical engineering. SUBSTANCE: welding set is characterized by maximum output voltage of open circuit. It has rotating motor, three-phase converter, rectifying bridge provided with number of electronic change-over facilities for current delivery to output in compliance with starting angles of change-over facilities within respective half of cycle. It also has output current determination facility, output voltage determination facility, and microprocessor device designed to control starting angles of change-over facilities in compliance with obtained current and voltage. Method and system use facility for forming the desired volt-ampere characteristic with fixed slope, facility for determination of voltage/current of welding set operating point, facility for changing the starting angles of change-over facilities for shifting the preset operating point to new operating point on desired volt-ampere characteristic with fixed slope. Use of thyristors as change-over facilities for each phase of AC generator is preferable. EFFECT: enhanced output signal control. 14 cl, 10 dwg
