FIELD: railway transport. SUBSTANCE: rails are arranged at a distance from each other to form cross clearance. According to one version, elongated steel barrier plate is used which is wedged in clearance in lower part of rail, and clearance above plate is filled with molten steel. Welding is done by consumable electrode moved in rail clearance. Procedure is started by striking the arc between electrode and barrier plate. According to second version beads are welded in successive passes. Electrode is moved alternately along path passing in side opposite direction for beads with first ends getting outside from rail head edge in cantilever relation to head. Thickness of first ends in vertical direction considerably exceeds that of bead second ends which are arranged at a distance from first ends in direction to opposite edge of head. EFFECT: enhanced quality of welded rails. 51 cl, 24 dwg
