FIELD: optico-mechanical industry, machine tool manufacture for test of optical polishing the surfaces of parts from clear materials, metals and plastics with any reflection factor. SUBSTANCE: clear testing glass laid over tested surface is illuminated by source of scattered light. Light falling on testing glass is polarized at an angle of 45 deg to plane of incidence, and angle of incidence is set within limits of 20-50 deg. Interference bands between tested and standard surfaces are observed and evaluated through polarization analyzer. EFFECT: broadened application field, enhanced functional efficiency. 2 dwg
