DEVICE FOR TEMPORARY SHUTTING-OFF OF PIPE LINE Russian patent published in 1998 - IPC

FIELD: pipe line transport of liquids and gases; shutting off pipe lines during repair for replacement of defective sections. SUBSTANCE: device includes shut-off member made in form of reel provided with similar disks at its ends. Disks are fitted on cross-pieces. Each built-up disk consists of solid disk and sectorial disks interconnected over slots formed by radial generatrices of sectors for motion in them. Contact surface of sectors with inner generatrix of pipe is provided with circular notches and groove for sealing ring. Built-up disks are articulated by means of bracket; disks may be folded on this bracket and reel may be opened in pipe line where it is introduced through oblong port; disks may be fixed perpendicularly relative to the axis of bracket. Sectors are provided with drive pistons which are connected with energy carrier source through valves, distributing manifolds, hoses, inlet and outlet pipe unions in taper plug of assembly hole provided in branch pipe.
