FIELD: power engineering. SUBSTANCE: high-temperature gas is so injected into closed toroidal conduit that gas stream moves in conduit along circle in the form of even number of alternating regions of high and low pressure. Volumetric charges of opposite polarity are formed in each central-symmetric pair of regions of low pressure by organization of positive feedback between potentials of thermal electrodes which are positioned in conduit and volumetric charges of regions of low gas pressure interacting with thermal electrodes bordering on these regions. Conduit embraces magnetic circuits which carry excitation windings connected to thermal electrodes. Voltage for users is collected from output windings of magnetic circuits. MHD generator has toroidal conduit connected to combustion chambers. Conduit houses thermal electrodes which are connected to one ends of excitation windings. Other ends of all excitation windings are interconnected. Dielectric layer coats conduit on inside. EFFECT: enhanced efficiency of method and generator. 2 cl, 2 dwg
