FIELD: electrical power engineering. SUBSTANCE: self-excited MHD generator has source of initiating excitation, circuit of electromagnet incorporating first MHD channel with source of working medium, which first current lead is connected to one of the two leads-out of winding of electromagnet and load circuit composed of MHD channel with source of working medium connected with its current leads to load. Self-excited MHD generator is also provided with third MHD channel with working medium connected in parallel to second MHD channel and having joint current leads-out. Second current lead-out of first MHD channel is linked to joint current lead-out of second and third MHD channels and second lead-out of the is latter is coupled to the other lead of winding of electromagnet.
