FIELD: production of facing slabs of natural stone, mainly with employment of diamond tool. SUBSTANCE: tool cutability is maintained in the process of cutting by self-sharpening of it and prolongation of service life due to the fact that various combinations of hard, soft and abrasive rocks are subjected to working by the same tool. First hard rocks are worked, or in succession hard and soft rocks, or in succession soft and hard rocks until the tool cutability is lost. Then abrasive rocks are worked until the tool cutability is restored. EFFECT: enhanced service life.
