FIELD: mechanical engineering and machine maintenance, in particular, reconditioning of gears made of cemented steels by thermoplastic deformation. SUBSTANCE: method consists in that worn gear is heated through by immersion into salt bath up to temperature exceeding point Ac3 by 30-150 C; installed in die and subjected to reduction to temperature Ac3, then gear is additionally cooled in die to temperature below point Ar1 by 50-80 C, and subjected to additional mechanical thermocyclic treatment which consists in multiple heating above point Ac3 by 30-150 C, deformation within temperature range Ac3 +(30-150 C) ...Ac3 and cooling to temperature below point Ar1 by 50-80 C. This thermocyclic procedure is repeated 4-6 times and gear is finally cooled in die from temperature Ac3 after deformation within temperature range Ac3 + (30-150 C) ...Ac3 to temperature T = 180-200 C. After cooling of gear to temperature of 180-200 C, it is pressed out of die and cooled in the air. Subsequent machining is carried out by means of abrasive tools. EFFECT: higher efficiency. 1 dwg, 1 tbl
