METHOD OF LOADING OF LONG-CUT HEAVY-WEIGHT STRUCTURES BY LOW-CAPACITY LIFTING DEVICE Russian patent published in 1998 - IPC

FIELD: materials handling facilities; loading and unloading of long-cut heavy-weight structures whose weight parameters exceed capacity of load-lifting device used for handling the structure. SUBSTANCE: detachable support centering members are mounted preliminarily on one of ends of long-cut heavy-weight structure. Then this end is lifted by means of load-lifting device. Then vehicle with platform furnished with longitudinal guides is brought under lifted end of structure. Lifted end of structure is lowered onto platform to brought support and centering members in contact with longitudinal guides of platform. This done, support and centering members are fixed relative to platform. Then above-indicated load lifting device is used to lift the other end of structure. Support and centering members are unlocked and vehicle is rolled under long-cut structure until entire structure is arranged above vehicle platform body. Second end of structure is lowered onto platform body. When loading long-cut heavy-weight structure it is held additionally to prevent longitudinal and cross displacements.
