FIELD: production of pipes and rods from zirconium alloys used as structural materials in active zones of nuclear reactors and apparatuses of chemical and oil-and-gas industry. SUBSTANCE: initial billet is produced from ingot by hot forming at temperature of existence of beta or (alpha + beta) zirconium. Intermediate billet is produced by hot forming in (alpha + beta) temperature region. Dimension billet is produced from intermediate billet and hardened at temperature exceeding by 30-60 C the point of alloy transition from intermediate (alpha + beta) region to bet zirconium region. Hardened dimension billet is subjected to tempering at temperature of existence of alpha zirconium, then billet is hot-formed at temperature of existence of alpha or (alpha + beta) zirconium and subjected to multistage machining. EFFECT: elimination of hereditary discontinuity in ingots from zirconium alloy in machining; higher quality of manufactured articles. 4 dwg, 1 tbl
