FIELD: metal coatings. SUBSTANCE: after preliminary plastic deformation of surface, copper-containing lubricating fluid is introduced into the contact zone of surface with processing tool. Copper is deposited onto working surface from lubricating fluid being in contact with surface and, simultaneously, preliminary plastic deformation occurs. According to invention, lubricating fluid is supplemented with fine metal powders, which interact with copper- containing underlayer to form new coatings with low coefficient of friction. Copper and nickel or nickel and zinc, or copper and zinc compositions may be utilized as fine metal powders. Invention may find application in mechanical and instrumentation engineering.
