FIELD: non-destructive flaw detection, in particular, checking articles of variable width and complex shape using oscillation characteristics. SUBSTANCE: method involves excitation of elastic vibrations in same point with constant force and duration of action, receiving natural oscillations of article in two different points and measuring amplitudes of these oscillations for natural frequencies. Flaws in article are judged by ratio of amplitudes. If article has no flaws, excitation in same point with constant force and duration results in constant ratio of amplitudes of natural oscillations. If this ratio varies, article has a flaw. EFFECT: increased functional capabilities. 1 dwg
