METHOD PREDICTING LEVEL OF GEOMAGNETIC DISTURBANCE Russian patent published in 1998 - IPC

FIELD: long-term prediction of geomagnetic activity. SUBSTANCE: method is reliable for long-term prediction of level of geomagnetic activity of $$$ index by values of prediction index HS and by observed values of $$$ index. Complex of cosmic ray detectors is added with magnetometric instruments for purpose of prediction. Parameters of bonding function between these indices describing law of disturbances of potential geoeffective formations in heliosphere by burst process in the Sun are determined on basis of comparison of time variations of index HS of heliospheric disturbances across interval of M days calculated by data from complex of cosmic ray detectors and of $$$ index calculated by data from complex of magnetometric sensors.. Values of $$$ index are predicted by values of this function extrapolated for n day ahead ( n=1, 2, 3..., 25) and by prediction index HS. EFFECT: enhanced reliability of method. 1 dwg
